PrivateFly sponsors commemorative album to mark RAF centenary

With its strong military roots, the private charter platform is featured in ‘100 Years of the RAF’ and will attend centenary flypast in London on 10 July

With CEO Adam Twidell serving 10 years as a pilot in the Royal Air Force before launching PrivateFly, he sees his military roots as intrinsic in the company’s success to date. And PrivateFly has now become one of the patrons of the official commemorative album marking the RAF’s centenary, which comes to a head with a historic day of celebrations in London on Tuesday, 10 July.

The hardback book, entitled 100 Years of the RAF, will be officially presented at the landmark occasion, which is set to see 100 RAF aircraft from the past century come together in a flypast over Buckingham Palace – the biggest gathering of aircraft over London since the WW2 victory celebrations of 1946. PrivateFly’s co-founders Adam Twidell and Carol Cork will attend the event, which will be broadcast live on the BBC and watched by thousands of spectators in London’s Royal Parks and the Mall.

Created with limited-edition red, white and blue covers, the album features a wide selection of breathtaking imagery from the RAF Museum’s extensive archives and will be distributed via major RAF100 events and networks, and to dignitaries around the world. As one of 100 business patrons (including Boeing, Airbus, Rolls Royce and Marks & Spencer), PrivateFly is profiled in a double page feature, looking at the private charter platform’s success since it launched in 2008. It will also take part in a video documentary to mark the occasion.

Twidell comments: “I flew the C-130 Hercules in the RAF before moving into business aviation, and I have drawn on my military roots in so many ways over the years, both in terms of my personal leadership style and in many aspects of running PrivateFly.

“PrivateFly is exceptionally proud to be a partner in the RAF100 project and we look forward to sharing copies of the fantastic commemorative album with some of our key clients and partners, as we celebrate our own 10-year anniversary. Tuesday’s event promises to be a truly historic and memorable occasion, and an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the RAF, and of the organisations around the world that owe much of their success to the service.”
